20th Behavioural Sciences Applied to Healthcare 2026

Applied research aims to have an impact on societies and individuals. Our BSAH community has worked towards this goal for many years in different corners of healthcare systems. This year the conference will focus on the impact that research in the behavioral sciences can have. We invite abstracts and workshop proposals that explore how to build the bridge from empirical findings and conceptual considerations to the application in practice and policy for real world impact. We seek work investigating how patients are treated and cared for well and safely, how professionals in the healthcare system can stay healthy themselves, and how to balance resources spent and effects achieved. In short: we seek contributions exploring the road to ”real world impact” of behavioural sciences in healthcare.

This year our theme, The Methodological Mosaic: Diverse Methods for an Evolving Healthcare Landscape, highlights the diverse and interconnected approaches used to study behaviour in healthcare.

Join us in Amsterdam as an international community of behavioural scientists and healthcare professionals seeks to understand, improve, and support improved patient care and health outcomes. BSAH 2026 will feature papers, workshops, posters, and invited keynotes from human factors, cognitive science, team science, anthropology, sociology, and other disciplines.
